Python Job: Head of Engineering - Veygo

An exciting opportunity has arrisen in Veygo for a Head of Engineering to join the growing IT team!

The Head of Engineering will oversee the engineering function which includes engineers spread across multiple areas such website, backend, integration, mobile app and Salesforce. Reporting into the Chief Technology Officer, you will be responsible for the software engineering implementations, software roadmap and overall management of the Engineering function. We are looking for an experienced leader who has strong stakeholder and end user communications experience.

Veygo is an independent company within Admiral Pioneer, a new business within Admiral Group with the objective of seeding, launching, and scaling start-ups.

Veygo is at the forefront of the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) revolution and is growing fast. We want to make life easier for those wishing to share cars, use their own temporarily, or for learner drivers looking to practice in a family member’s or friends’ car. In short, we want to help people be able to get behind the wheel of a car, even if they don’t own one.

Responsibilities

As Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for:

• Maintaining a high level of comms between the senior stakeholders, the product teams and engineering teams, being the link between the overall delivery teams and the CTO
• Managing the Software team in our fast paced, agile environment where team members are allocated to cross-functional teams
• Championning best practices and knowledge sharing whilst also driving improvements and innovation

Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A solid background in software development/engineering with strong People management skills and the ability to lead and coach using Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban)
• Excellent knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Excellent Stakeholder/End user communication skills
• Experience with Business Change & Strategy
• Experience with multiple technologies (not necessarily hands on), object-oriented design and software development, cloud-based platforms (PaaS, SaaS), and complex web-based applications

It would also be useful if you had experience with:

• Native mobile app development
• Salesforce
• AWS cloud platform
• Python, Django, React, Typescript, Javascript

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
